Investment seminar in Taipei presented Czechia as an attractive destination for the semiconductor industry

In early February, the Check the Czechs seminar was held in Taipei to introduce the Czech investment environment to local investors in the semiconductor industry. The event was well received by the participants, confirming the growing interest in the Czech market and providing them with important information and incentives to invest in Czechia. Representatives from the CzechInvest agency also spoke at the seminar.

„The interest in Czechia is demonstrated not only by the large turnout at the seminar, the developing cooperation with the Czech semiconductor cluster, but especially by the number of contacts made within the supply chain of the planned TSMC chip factory in nearby Dresden, which represents a huge opportunity for Czechia, “ said Petr Očko, acting CEO of the CzechInvest agency and Senior Director of the Department of Digitisation and Innovation at the Ministry of Industry and Trade.

The seminar was also attended by Denisa Fukalová, Director of the Department of Investment and Foreign Activities, and Jakub Hájek, Foreign Representative in Japan, who presented the economic environment of Czechia and the specific advantages of investing in Czechia. In such cases, the foreign representatives of the CzechInvest agency can help to transfer to investors solutions that have already been tested in the supply chains of semiconductor manufacturers around the world.

The seminar also focused on key questions that Taiwanese companies have about investing in Czechia, such as the availability of experts in technical fields, the offer of incentives from the Czech government, or the suitability of Czech locations for Taiwanese investment. The seminar also discussed broader trends in the European semiconductor industry, including recent EU support for chip development and the creation of a semiconductor ecosystem under the EU Chips Act.

The investment seminar, which was fully booked, is just one of many steps Czechia is taking to encourage foreign investment, particularly in the semiconductor industry. The seminar was organised by the Czech Economic and Cultural Office in Taipei in cooperation with TeaLa (Taiwan Eastbound Alliance - Landing America) and the Taiwan Chamber of Commerce in the Czech Republic (TCCCZ).
